For more proof of the importance of giving workers a truthful reason for their firing, consider the plight now faced by Vicars Powersports, McAlester, OK.
The company has agreed to pay $75,000 in order to resolve a gender-bias lawsuit initiated by the EEOC.
According to the agency, Vicars fired Pamela White because of her gender, then lied to her about the reason for her termination. Prior to her dismissal, White was told by a male manager that she lives in a “man’s world.” He also said to her, “You do not belong here.”
White was fired and told that her position had been eliminated. However, she saw a post on Vicar’s Facebook page announcing the hiring of a man to replace her. So she reached out to the EEOC, which sued for gender bias.
Based on EEOC v. V8 Motors, LLC.
