When it comes to keeping your staffers safe, now is not the time to let down your guard.
Here’s why: The number of injuries among U.S. employees is on the rise.
The recently released Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that there were 2,242,700 injuries reported by U.S. employers in 2021. In 2020, there were 2,110,100 injuries recorded by employers, which means the number of injuries jumped 6.28% in 2021 from 2020.
Among the industries with the biggest increases in the number of injuries are manufacturing, where injuries went up 3.16% to 385,100 in 2021 from 373,300 in 2020, and transportation and warehousing, where the number of injuries jumped 22.33% to 253,100 in 2021 from 206,900 in 2020.
